Enjoy the view from our sauna

Welcome into our outdoor wooden heated sauna for one hour of pure pleasure and eye pleasing view toward the lake and the mountains through the panoramic window. The sauna is placed close to the lake with the opportunity to refresh yourself in the water.

We sell 8 seats in every timeslot, but for friends booking it privately there is room for 12 good friends.

The sauna is made of locally produced timber, and the oven is a real finish sauna oven. F

When you order the sauna timeslot we heat it manually for you. 

Practical information:

  • Book your seat in advance, prepay the order.
  • We reccommend you to change your clothes for easy getting ready to use the sauna.
  • Come inside to the reception and get your towel to use in sauna, sit on it.
  • We assume you keep your bathing suit  / shorts on during the sauna hour.
  • A small wardrobe is next door to the sauna, keep your clothes, bags etc there.
  • When inside the sauna you keep feeding it with wood, maximum fill oven 2/3, and put snow or water on the oven to keep the nice humidity!
  • Regulate the draft with the drawer at wown bottom on the oven.
  • Is it winter and no water accessible for bathing, we reccommend snowbathing!

You will find extra water outside the sauna, and wood inside the sauna. Water for drinking is in the wardrobe.

Please leave the towels in the wardrobe.

A little bit about the sauna

Production:

The sauna is made of solid wood, which is a good material to choose for environmentally friendly constructions. The wood is grown locally, produced and delivered by the production company Norsk Massivtre in Valdres.

The exterior cladding is made of treated spruce. The color is red, like our hotel, and the material is robust against the ever-changing and sometimes rough weather. Inside, the benches in the sauna are built of light aspen, which gives a light and modern Scandinavian style. The solid wood in the wall is made of spruce.

The sauna is approx. 13 square meters with space for 8-15 guests. There is a changing room  where you can hang up your clothes and put away the things you do not want to bring into the sauna. Inside the sauna you almost feel the nature comes into the room through the heat-resistant panoramic windows, which extend from floor to ceiling and from wall to wall. The village architects are responsible for the design of the sauna.

The sauna weighs approx. 7-8 tons, and with such a significant weight it is quite incredible that it is mobile. Two wheels are mounted underneath which allow our large tractor to transport it from place to place. The chassis is welded and supplied by Promek Mekanical Workshop in Sør-Aurdal in Valdres.

The oven is imported from Finland and secures  the production of a longlasting warm an friendly athmosphere in the sauna.
